Welcome to Kochkor

It's time to start your adventure

Jailoo Tourism Center Just 3 hours from Bishkek, surrounded by beautiful jailoo, is the village of Kochkor, which for many travelers is the best place to immerse themselves in the nomadic way of life that means so much to the history and culture of Kyrgyzstan. Friendlier, quieter, and generally less polluted than the regional center of Naryn on the road to the Torugart Pass, Kochkor village has 15,000 residents, mostly farmers and cattle ranchers. Many of them spend the summer in their yurts, and some are more than willing to host tourists through the Kochkor CBT group. Tourists fortunate enough to get there can see meadows that seem to extend to the skyline; the scale of the panorama is shaded by people, horses, and sheep scattered in the pastures. These are carpets of flowers and clouds of butterflies. This is Kyrgyz hospitality in all its fullness and glory. On Son-Kul Lake, the pearl of the mountain pastures, and on the smaller Kol-Ukok Lake, fish are frolicking, jumping out of the water, and, like gold, the water shimmers under the first rays of the morning sun. There are many similar landscapes in the Naryn region, and Kochkor is an excellent place to start a tour of this wonderful land.
